What is the origin of Monotheism ?

Some might claim that Monotheism begin with Akhenaton where as he created a god named Aten thus banning all other gods of Egypt. However after his death Egypt went right back into the belief of more then one god. Although true monotheism begin with Abraham which is specifically recognized through Moses.
