Would "borrowing" stories be the act of divine inspiration.?

The sumerian epic of gilgamesh is a story of a global flood--complete with ark--animals and the like--and predates the biblical story by about 1000 years. One would think that if the bible were "divinely" inspired that the author would have nothing but original material. (I mean the moses characters early life is a direct copy of the much older king sargon myth--there are elements of the babylonian creation myth which is much older than geneis). Wasn't this god fellow capable of doing his own work when he dictated the bible?
