Was Zecharia Sitchin actually a con-man?

People criticized Einstein, they criticized Orville Wright and Wilbur Wright. Might point being is that people could literally go into anything and criticized the person or topic. I haven't done much research on this but I have to check this out. Don't believe everything you hear, believe what you feel is right.
