How to make the final bowser appear in Super Mario Galaxy 2?

I got 120 stars and the two little green stars appeared on the mario spaceship but the final bowser level didnt appear! Help please! I don't know how to make it appear! I played the beginning of the game as mario and when you can switch to luigi i did that. I don't know if this has anything to do with it! HELP!
